Rotaract Year 2024/25

The Rotaract year 2024–2025 was led by Rtr. Navaneeth Krishna, marking a year of renewed purpose, innovation, and impactful service by the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.

Throughout the year, the club functioned with a dynamic and committed membership of 45 active members, executing projects across all Rotaract avenues including Club Service, Community Service, International Service, Professional Development, Public Relations, Finance, and Sports and Recreation. A wide array of impactful initiatives were carried out, such as Suwaliya 4.0, Sobha, Beyond Boundaries, Blood Donation Drive, VACA – Voice Against Child Abuse, Yaluwa, CanCon, If I Were President, Escape Room, RotaQuiz, Squid Game and Capitalism, and Letters of Appreciation, addressing key areas of public health, social equity, youth engagement, and mental well-being. The club also placed strong emphasis on intellectual discourse, professional growth, and   fellowship   through   projects   such   as   Wellbridge   2.0,   Tech   Trailblazers   2.0, MedicoLegal, Spectra, Flex Your Fandom, and Culture Fest ’25. These initiatives enabled members  to  grow  as  socially  responsible  healthcare  professionals  while  fostering inter-club collaboration and unity.

In addition, the club strengthened its digital and public engagement through consistent public relations efforts, including RotaOps ’25, orientation programs, and structured content dissemination. Despite academic demands and resource limitations, the club successfully maintained high participation rates at meetings and activities, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and collective leadership.

We hope this will help them intervene and rescue their students who are in need.

Sign Language Syllabus for Doctors and Medical Students

This coursebook is one of the basic steps taken to address the communication issues of the deaf community particularly in the healthcare sector. Major area of focus in this guide is the medical scenarios in order to equip future medical professionals with basic communications skills to deal with deaf patients. This would be beneficial for patients as well as undergraduate students since it depicts our core virtues Competency, Compassion and Care. This guide book and the video series attached to the course are user friendly and designed to learn sign language from scratch.
