The 7th installation ceremony of the Rotaract club of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, took place on the September 12 at the Multipurpose room of the UCFM tower. Among the attendees was the event’s Chief Guest was Vidya Jyothi Professor Vajira Dissanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, the Guest of Honour was Rotarian Paul Harris-Fellow, past District Rotaract Representative, Rotarian Past Presidents Kasun Sigera and Shanel Mendis.
After the Sergeant-At-Arms Danushi Kavindi called the House to order, Rotaractor Nirali Edirisinghe commenced the formalities. TheProject Chairperson Rotaractor Puldith Gurusinghe then delivered the Welcome Speech, which was followed by the Secretary’s Report readout by the Secretary for the years 2023/2024 Rotaractor Minul Doluweera. The gathering was addressed by the outgoing President Rotaractor Asel Jatunarachchi. Certificates of appreciation of past members were awarded subsequently. Rotaractor Maheeshi Subaweera then introduced the incoming President Navaneeth Krishna; the new President was collared with the gavel and charter certificate being handed over by the Past President. President Navneeth Krishna addressed the gathering and introduced the new board. District Rotaract Representative Shanel Mendis’ and District Rotaract Chair Kasun Sigera’s speeches probes to be both moving and were enthusiastically received by those present.
Facilitation of the incoming President and the Board of Directors was a much awaited affair with numerous Rotaractors being cited and hearty congratulations propsed.
With the Vote of Thanks being proposed by the new Secretary Navien Nair, the president officially concluded the installation ceremony. With that the new Board of the Roatact Club of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, seems to be rearing to go!
