Project LaserMegaddon

Project LaserMegaddon, a dynamic initiative orchestrated by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo Rotaract Club, served as a thrilling introduction to the realm of Rotaract for new members. This Club Services project brought together 30 participants, forming three teams, each ready to embark on an exhilarating adventure.

Imagined as a fusion of strategy, teamwork, and high-tech fun, LaserMegaddon ingeniously adopted the premise of a classic laser tag game. However, it added an innovative twist by incorporating a social media component. Participants aimed not physical lasers but their smartphone cameras at opponents, capturing and posting pictures in the group to “eliminate” rivals. This creative blend of technology and camaraderie added a contemporary touch to the traditional laser tag experience.

The game wasn’t just about eliminating opponents. Teams were tasked with challenges like finding hidden flags, fostering collaboration and problem-solving skills. This not only made the event entertaining but also instilled the values of teamwork and adaptability inherent in Rotaract.

Among the spirited teams, Team Avengers, under the leadership of Rtr Minul Doluweera, emerged victorious. Their strategic prowess and effective communication not only secured their triumph but also exemplified the spirit of Rotaract. The success of Project LaserMegaddon extended beyond its playful exterior, successfully integrating new members into the Rotaract family while fostering the essential principles of service, friendship, and leadership.
